What is remedial massage therapy?sports massage
Remedial Therapy has been specifically developed to assess and treat muscle and joint problems that cause pain.

At Muscle Pain Therapy, remedial therapy is more than just a deep tissue massage. The main aim of remedial therapy is pain relief through correction of body function. The most effective way to achieving long term pain relief is by finding the cause and source of the pain and then treating that, not just the symptoms.

Remedial therapy utilises the healing properties of massage along with some very effective treatment techniques such as myofascial release, muscle energy technique, trigger point therapy and joint mobilisation. (Don’t worry if you don’t know what these techniques are.....that’s my job!)

Why your body needs a ‘service’
Remedial massage therapy is a great way to achieve pain relief and regularly service your body to help prevent or repair minor soft tissue disruptions before they become long term problems. Prevention is better than cure!

The aim of a remedial massage treatment is to help you with:

  • Lower back pain
  • Mid back and neck pain
  • Headaches
  • Poor flexibility and limited movement
  • Injury rehabilitation
  • Chronic (long term) pain
  • Athletic performance and sporting injuries

In Conclusion
If you are suffering pain due to muscular dysfunction then remedial therapy may be what you are needing.

What to expect
If it is your first treatment you will be asked to complete a new patient form. It is advised to turn up a few minutes early to complete this form.

Initially your consultation will begin by the therapist asking you a few questions to ascertain what treatment is necessary. Remember to feel free to ask any questions you may have.

After this brief chat the therapist will give you some basic instructions for level of undress and positioning on the treatment table. The therapist will leave the room while you get yourself ready. We will always knock before reentering the room so you don’t have to rush!

The treatment will begin with your therapist performing a muscle and joint assessment and having a feel around for any muscular dysfunction or tightness. Then, let the healing begin
